The question that does not discriminate
Ah, the age old question that does not discriminate. No matter gay or straight, rich or poor, young or old, educated or not, this question invades everyone’s space. Everyone’s.
Have you ever pondered, “Why am I here?” Why does life exist? Why does my life exist?
Regardless of how deeply you’ve pondered this, I want to share a critical truth with you… *listen!*
Your life is what it is for a reason. Your life matters.
Friends, at the very core of your individuality, you are a unique creature. You were designed by God – very deliberately – to be set apart, special, precious, like no other. You are beautiful. You are a miracle. It makes no difference where you come from, who your parents are, who you know, where you went (or didn’t go) to school, what color your arms are, what faith you embrace, who you were born to love, or what you do for a living.
For some of us, that truth resonates rather easily, even if the “why” isn’t fully understood. For some of us, though, that truth has very little reality. So how do you begin to grasp it?
Begin with the thought. Your mind is powerful. Very powerful. Harness it. If you think you’re worthless, you’ll be worthless. But if you think you have some value, you’ll act as though you have some value.
Back to the question of why does your life exist. What answers have you come up with? I hope you’ll share them with us in the comments section below.
As I’ve personally pondered this question, I’ve learned there’s no real grandiose, surprising answer about me making some sort of noticeable splash in the world’s ocean. I’ve learned it’s much more intimate than that. More personal. And all about relationships.
I am here to share a kind word when one is needed, to love and encourage others by truly investing in their lives, to smile a contagious smile, to listen, to be passionate, to embrace life and to encourage others to do likewise.
Every choice you make matters. Choose to live life fully. Choose to invest in yourself. Choose to invest in others. At the ten thousand foot level, that’s why we’re all here. At the zoomed-in micro-level, we’re here to function in our one-of-a-kind way. The way that will only be realized if you live it out.
More than anything, I believe I need to be me and you need to be you. God designed you to be you… uniquely you. He didn’t make any backups or understudies. So, if you’re not being you, no one is. What a loss for this world.
Respect your individuality. Recognize your uniqueness. Be kind, loving, respectful, and accepting… of YOU!
